The Unveiling & Dedication of the

Col. Albert Pawling Memorial Statue

Friday, April 15th, 2016.  2:00p.m. – 4:00p.m.

The Unveiling & Dedication of the Col. Albert Pawling Memorial Statue marks the conclusion of a statue project that was kicked off in June, 2013. Throughout the project, the committee has been able to contract with a nationally recognized sculptor; raised more than $68,000 to complete the statue project; dedicated the statue site as the Col. Albert Pawling Memorial Park, while also beautifying the location; became an official bicentennial project for the City of Troy; brought light to important history of Troy’s early days; and also brought life back to a man who is considered to be “one of the greatest benefactors to the Village and City of Troy”

We are very thankful to all the donors who made this project possible. It is because of you that we are able to honor the past to educate the future.

Mayor’s Proclamation

The mayor of Troy, Louis A. Rosamilia, gave us a great honor recently. Not only are we a statue project honoring the bicentennial for the city of Troy’s incorporation and it’s first mayor, Col. Albert Pawling, but through an official Mayor’s Proclamation we are now “an officially recognized bicentennial project in the city of Troy”. The first to be recognized and we hope for many more to celebrate Troy’s rich 200 years of success from it’s incorporation as a city!

Thank you, Mayor.SCN_0001

Welcome to Pawling Park!

Troy’s newest park was dedicated on April 14th, 2015. The dedication was accompanied with the celebration of Col. Albert Pawling’s 265th birthday and the 199th anniversary of being appointed mayor on  April 15th, 1816.

It was a beautiful day, the dedication was attended by the media and spectators and the cake for the Col’s birthday was delicious. Thank you to the Cookie Factory for the donation.

This park adds more to the honoring of Col. Pawling’s memory and we are thankful for the Troy City Council for converting the statue site into parkland from their resolution.
